When asked what his focus is, Dr. James Colasurdo replied:
”The purpose of my practice is to illuminate my philosophy and feelings about psychological support in the hope of attracting people who need effective and meaningful psychotherapy. I’d like to help those in need that really want behavioral change.
My core values are a genuine sense and feeling of empathy for everyone who walks in the room or contacts me. This empathy is backed by a genuine drive and efficacy to get to the problems quickly and clearly, as I do believe that our time is always limited. This is amplified by my belief in principles of Buddhism and mindfulness, specifically a strong belief in the here and now and the consideration of the current socio-cultural zeitgeist.
My empathy for all is spiritually based and part of my personality out of the office. I use humor and paradoxical thinking in ways which are, from what I am told, unique. My incorporation of mindfulness with cognitive behavioral therapy, backed by occasional psychoanalytic insights is not unique, but the way I use these principles is.
My target clients are anyone who is feeling depressed, anxious or wondering what life is all about. Anyone who has suffered real definable losses: in relationships, in jobs, in self-esteem, status, finances, health, family and any aspect of life itself. In short- anyone who is afflicted in any way, from the most seemingly minor to the definitely major. And even those people who are just wondering about life and are curious about mindfulness and would like to live in a more meaningful way.”
James F. Colasurdo can help treat a wide range of a wide range of issues including relationship issues, financial stress, social media addiction, behavioral issues, anger management, excessive anxiety. He can also help with and has knowledge of psychedelic informed psychotherapy.
